Just a Note

just a note lg

Don’t you just love that little girl at the bottom of this Valentine?  I do.  Tracey Malnofski has such a genius way with her character images.  As soon as I saw her, I had to have her on a Valentine of mine. She’s so CUTE with her little braids and bunny.

Just a Note Card

Emo Quote Digital Stamp from The Stamping Boutique.  This image was colored and paper-pieced digitally using American Crafts XOXO Collection in Photoshop Elements, traced in Silhouette Studio, and then printed-and-cut using my Silhouette Cameo.  I only used the little girl of the digital stamp by erasing areas around her in Photoshop Elements.  This little girl was applied to the base of the card using 3D Zots and Tombow Mono Multiadhesive.

This digital stamp is only $3 and because it’s digital, you don’t pay for shipping and you get it FAST!  Clicking on the image below will take you directly to the product page at The Stamping Boutique.

XOXO Collection’s color palette was used to fill the digital stamp with color. A journaling card and patterned paper from this kit was used as the background for the digital stamp. This kit is available NOW at acdigitals.com.

The card base is by Silhouette America and was cut from Krafty premium cardstock by Core’dinations.

Below is a peek at XOXO Collection used in the card above.

Unity Friends Blog Hop—YEAH!!!

I’m SUPER elated for you all to join me during this Unity Friends Blog Hop on a crisp November Sunday morning. This Thursday will be Thanksgiving!  I am very thankful for you all and for the creative drive I receive from using stamped images made with love by the people at Unity Stamp Company.

Below are some projects I made using some of Unity’s Brand NEW releases. I hope they inspire YOU!

For the cards, I used Alyssa Bennett’s charming new releases. The cute little elephant on this card represents the BIG love I would have for the person receiving the card—isn’t that elephant SO cute.  The wordart is equally AMAZING. love youTo give the little elephant some dimension, I created a cut file to use in Silhouette Studio.  Once it was cut, I used pop dots to adhere it to the card and applied glossy accents to the little heart. You can see these effects a little better in the picture below.love you 2Digital Kit Credit:  Maggie Holmes Flea Market Mini Kit available at digitalprojectlife.com.

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner (believe it or not). I could make Valentine’s Day cards all year round. Candy hearts are a favorite around this house in February and we stock up on them.candy heartsTo give my heart some vintage flare, I inserted a vintage-looking element from Crate Paper’s Fourteen digital kit to the middle of the heart and used pop dots to pop the image from the base of the card. I applied some glossy accents to the candy hearts.  You can see these effects a little better in the picture below.candy hearts 2Digital Kit Credit: Fourteen by Crate Paper available at acdigitals.com.

It’s been a little while since I made a custom tee using an iron-on transfer with my Silhouette Portrait.  This is a project that is both FAST and rewarding. These images were a perfect fit for a toddler t-shirt!  Again, I used some of Alyssa Bennett’s darling new releases.  This little tee is hopefully going to make a little girl I know BEE Happy!  She and her mother are a big fan of bee images and colors.bee happy Digital Kit Credit:  Storyteller by Crate Paper available at acdigitals.com.

Next is a tag I made using the NEW Lasting Thoughts Quote kit. This quote reminds me of an experience I had with my daughter at Science Camp this past week. We all hiked down to Black Sands Beach for some activities and WAVE tag. We had to hike back up from the beach to our next destination when Gwen, all of a sudden, became afraid of heights. REALLY afraid of heights. She refused to go a step farther unless I held her little hand all the way up.  I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to be there to hold her hand and will never forget it as long as I live.

For the tag, I added coordinating color to the parts of the wordart in Photoshop Elements that I wanted to stand out on the tag. I applied a shadow to the text.  Once it was printed, I applied some Perfect Medium over the top of the words I colored using a Perfect Medium pen, sprinkled some clear embossing powder over the top, and embossed these parts with a heat tool.  I love how this turned out!

who knows Digital Kit Credit:  Autumn Foliage Wall Art by Nancie Rowe Janitz available at jessicasprague.com.

The picture below of Gwen petting the horse was the destination we were hiking to after the beach. I think she surely enjoyed meeting the horses and became instantly captivated.IMG_5065 And now . . . something fun and wonderful for YOU! grabbagLEAVE a comment on my BLOG Post and you have a CHANCE to WIN a GRAB BAG of 20 STAMPS from Unity! :)  Winners will be picked and ANNOUNCED on the Unity Blog and FACEBOOK PAGE on Tuesday Morning!

TSB PARTY! Sketch!

crobinson_party sketchlg

Tonight was The Stamping Boutique’s Holiday Party.  There were lots of prizes to be won and lots of fun conversations to be had, that’s for sure!  Challenge #2 for the party, used a straightforward sketch by the talented Pam Nezrick Loris.  Go here to see the other contributions for this sketch as well as the actual sketch itself—they’re fabulous!

Merry Christmas HO! HO! HO! Card

Reindeer Train digital stamp from The Stamping Boutique.  This image was colored and paper-pieced digitally using Crate Paper’s Peppermint Kit in Photoshop Elements, traced in Silhouette Studio, and then printed-and-cut using my Silhouette Portrait.  I isolated parts of the train applied them to the base using 3D Zots and Tombow Mono Multiadhesive.

This digital stamp is only $3.25 and because it’s digital, you don’t pay for shipping and you get it FAST!  Clicking on the image below will take you directly to the product page at The Stamping Boutique.  This little cutie can be used for all kinds of holiday projects for years to come.Reindeer-Train2450The Peppermint Collection by Crate Paper was used to fill the digital stamp and the other layers of the card.  This kit is available NOW at acdigitals.com.

The file card base is by Silhouette America and cut from Krafty premium cardstock by Core’dinations.  The font, scalloped border, and layers of the card are also bits and pieces from the Silhouette America Online store as well as the 3D bow and pennants which were filled with prints from Crate Paper’s digital kit.

The buttons are from my scrappy craft stash.  I believe they were manufactured through Autumn Leaves quite a while back.  These were sewn onto the bow and tab of the card base using my Singer Futura and embroidery thread with button attachment.

Below is a peek at Crate Paper’s Peppermint Collection used in the card above.

Merry and Bright with Blythe

merry and bright

This fully grown woman has been wanting a Blythe doll for quite a little while now, but I just can’t justify the price. I did find this cute ”Littlest Pet Shop” version of a Blythe doll locally for a great price and thought she’d be the cutest prop for some of my holiday projects—she even comes with a little pet, stand, comb, and that hat and scarf are adorable!  Once I brought her home, I still had Blythe dolls on my mind!  So, to help alleviate the pain of not owning a full-size Blythe doll, I went in search of Blythe coloring pages online that I could make into cut files with my Silhouette Portrait.  I found the one on the above tag at hellokids.com.  I saved her to my computer, cleaned her up in Photoshop Elements, filled the image with digital patterned papers, saved her as a png file, retrieved her in Silhouette Studio, traced her, and voila! She’s a cut file and I can use her over and over again for different themes, different sizes, and whatnot.

Merry and Bright with Blythe Tag Supplies List

The Merry and Bright sentiment is from the October 2013 KOM and is available at Unity Stamp Company.

Tim Holtz Tag & Bookplates Die by Sizzix (cut using my Silhouette Portrait); OF NOTE:  The tag was cut from cardstock and chipboard to give it some added weight.

Pretty Party prints were used for the background and top layer of the tag, the tag topper, filled the scallop borders, and filled the Blythe image. Blythe was cut from cardstock and chipboard for dimension and attached to the top layer using 3D Zots.  This digital kit is by Crate Paper and is available NOW at acdigitals.com.

Scalloped border and die cut eyelet lace layer is by Silhouette America.  OF NOTE:  The tag topper was cut from cardstock and chipboard to give it some added dimension.  I thought adding some holiday props would help with the holiday cheer.  The antlers and holly were files from the Silhouette America Online store, also.

Heavy duty jute from hardware store was applied to the tag by tying a bow.

Unity Stamp Company Challenge Day 5

Day 5 Taglg

Day 5—LAST day of the tag challenge at the Facebook Unity Show & Tell Group Page. There’s still time--get your tags done—and share your pretty creations. Please!

The above tag is my Day 5 submission.  The pretty little girl and bunny are from the Let Beauty Surround You Itty-Bitty stamp set by Phyllis Harris from Unity.  I paired that stamp with a sentiment of another Itty Bitty—Play in the Sun.  Today was THE perfect day to get outside and experience the fall beauty.  It’s not too late for me to get out and enjoy it.  PERFECT weather.  The sun is from the July 2013 KOM and the little butterfly is from the August 2013 KOM.  Chicken Wire background was also used.

Unity Stamp Company Tag Challenge Day 3

Day 3 Taglg

1235344_10202142965639417_495969589_n

It’s Day 3 of the tag challenge at the Facebook Unity Show & Tell Group Page!  I think I’m going to see this challenge to the end. I hope you do, too.  I’m enjoying the inspiration and seeing how stamps I own, too, look through others’ eyes in their creations.

The above tag is my Day 3 contribution.  I thought I’d go for a more subtle look to my tag today. The focal point of the tag is from the Unity Stamp Company Itty Bitty stamp entitled Love Birds which was paper-pieced using a Crate Paper collection digital kit.  The sentiment is from Unity’s August 2013 KOM.  I was feeling a bit sentimental and blessed today while making my tag and couldn’t help thinking how great things are going with my marriage and family—I love us all!  What do you think about while getting crafty?

Fabric Composition Book Cover with Appliqué

unity contest lg

I made the above fabric composition journal cover using printed appliqués made from a digital image and sentiment. If you're a beginning sewist, here's a link to the tutorial that I used to make the fabric journal cover: http://www.stitchedincolor.com/2012/08/tutorial-journal-covers.html

The tutorial was easy to follow. Once that was sewed and ironed, I then filled the images in PSE with Amy Tangerine's Sketchbook digital prints from acdigitals.com and printed/cut them in conjunction with my printer and Silhouette Portrait which cut the images like appliqué. Then I applied them to the fabric journal cover and applied some bling to the middle of the flowers.  This is just a light synopsis of the process.

Below is a picture of the first page of this composition journal.  It’s going to be my new stamp journal. I stamped/cut some Unity Stamp Company Fashionistas. They are just adorable as always and make me happy!

Digital Paper Piecing with Crate Paper’s Fourteen Collection & a Unity Stamp

crobinson0127lg

Did you know that you could paper piece a rubber stamp digitally?  Well you can.  The proof is in the above picture.

In the above card, I used my Silhouette Portrait’s Print-and-Cut feature to make these digital (and rubber) elements come to life. I scanned in one of my favorite Unity Stamps (Rain or Shine), filled it with prints from Crate Paper’s Fourteen Collection in Photoshop Elements, and saved it as a png file. Then I retrieved it in the Silhouette software, resized it to approximately 4-inches (the original is only 2-1/2-inches), and used the Print-and-Cut feature. Voila! Digital paper piecing with rubber stamps! Don’t be afraid to do this. It will bring more versatility to your rubber stamp collection. Many times I’ve colored in and/or paper-pieced rubber stamps, wishing that the images were just a little bit bigger or that the process was a bit easier, don’t you agree? We can all appreciate this look, right? With a scanner, printer, and a digital die cutter as powerful as a Silhouette, this is SO possible!

Who wouldn’t be inspired to do this when full collections from Crate Paper are available, just a mouse click away?

Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Full Collection at ACDigitals.com!

crobinson_062113lg

This is an 8-1/2-x-11-inch hybrid layout I made showcasing photos from Gwen’s Video Game Arcade Birthday Party earlier last month. She’s 10, can you believe it?!

I used my Silhouette Portrait to print-and-cut all the embellishments and polaroid frames seen on the layout which are included in Maggie Holmes Full Collection.  This is a very fun collection to scrap with and lends itself well to many themes, both masculine and feminine. The arrow-shaped “birthday” title was cut from a pattern from Maggie’s collection but is a shape I got through the Silhouette America Online Store.  The sentiment seen on the tag, “Capturing Everything” is a stamp from Unity Stamp Company’s Kit of the Month from April 2013.cp_maggieholmes_fullcollection_1024x1024Click on the above collection image to be taken directly to the product pages at AC Digitals.

American Crafts Botanique!

crobinson_032813lg

My oldest son, Jake, moved out of our home, relocated to Southern California, and began his college career.  He has some short-term and long-term goals he wants to accomplish in his life.  We couldn’t be prouder of him and we wish him the best-est of luck!  We miss him terribly but we are all looking forward to him living the life he has imagined.  He deserves the best life has to offer him.

With Jake moving out, this opened up a room for his younger brother, Raiden, who had been sharing a room with his sister, Gwen.  Since, then I’ve been trying to make the both of them more comfortable in their rooms.  Papercrafting can add little personal touches to a child’s room in an affordable way.

For example, the little box pictured above will hold little treasures on my daughter’s dresser.  It’s 5-1/2-inches tall and 3-inches wide.  It’s a cut file I purchased for 99 cents at the Silhouette Online Store called 4 stack drawers by SnapDragon Snippets LLC. The flower at the top of the set is a 3D Peony which was the Free Shape of the Week from the Silhouette Online Store a few weeks back.  This flower is my favorite 3D flower right now.

Since owning my Silhouette Portrait, I am pleasantly surprised every Tuesday by the free shape offered.  The FREE cut files are always something I WANT to use coupled with a project using it on their blog—pretty COOL!   Sometimes they also post instructions on how they used it in the software and the final results.  This information is very helpful for new users and I suggest you check it out from time to time.  Here’s a link to their blog:    http://blog.silhouetteamerica.com/

To make this cut file more sophisticated, I used American Crafts Botanique (Full Collection) from AC Digitals.com.  It was just the right mix of graphic papers with pretty garden images to complete the look of this little box.

Color Combos Galore #239--Fairy Tales in Pink!

239.cr_card

This week, the focal point of my card came from Inspiration Photo#3/Focus On Accent--Accordion Flower.  I love to make accordion flowers.  They add just the right dimension and whimsy to projects and they’re just fun to make, especially when you have such a playful combo as #239!

I was further inspired by the other photos of this week’s inspiration board.  In particular, Inspiration Photo #2, where I used a heart shape in the middle of my accordion flower and then used a frame to hold the accordion flower. In the end, I added glossy accents to the heart for subtle dimension and shine. This heart element and sentiment is from Dear Lizzy Neapolitan Element Pack 1 now available at AC Digitals.com.

Here’s the description from AC Digitals:  Dear Lizzy Neapolitan is soft and feminine, featuring candy-shop colors and a diffused watercolor effect that takes you into a daydream of hand-drawn Mason jars, ice cream cones, and balloons.  The Dear Lizzy Neapolitan Element Pack #1 includes 85 elements in PNG format.

From that same photo, I gained inspiration from the polka dots as I dry-embossed the frame with a Cuttlebug polka dot embossing folder.

From Inspiration Photo #4, my background print (Hero Arts Large Flower Background) was inspired by the print/texture of the pillows on the bed.

The design of the card is labeled “All Occasion Card Kit” and is a cut file in the Silhouette Online Store by designer, Lori Whitlock.
