Unity's Brown Thursday 2017 Hop!

What have you all been up to lately?

It's been so long since we've hopped. I hope all is well with you. I'm HAPPY the season has changed to Fall and the time is back to normal--YES! It's my favorite time of year I think.

For the hop, I'm sharing a fold-over tag page I did for my li'l thrifted address book that's full of Unity goodness!

Here's a peek at the outside of the tag page.
This little book is getting filled QUICK!

I LOVE this sentiment! It really sings to my heart.

I used my Silhouette to help design this fold-over tag page for my stamping project and paper-pieced and colored the image with distress ink.

Here's a look at the stamp kit, Little Stuff, by Phyllis Harris.

I also put together a 5-x-7-inch mixed media canvas using last month's SMAK Kit.

First, I layered some distress paint on the canvas in the following colors: pumice stone, dusty concord, evergreen bough, pine needles, and scattered straw. While I waited for the distress paints to dry on the canvas, I carefully stamped the SMAK images onto tissue paper using jet black and stone gray Stazon inks and I let that dry just for a bit. It’s pretty quick actually. I printed a picture of a housing structure onto tissue paper and used my heat tool to dry it before cutting it out and adhering it to the canvas with the other layers of stamped tissue paper. These images were adhered to the canvas with gel medium and a lightly wet paint brush. Then I edged the canvas with picket fence distress ink and used a ruler with a copic multiliner to add an inky-looking border.

Unity’s September Blog Hop!

Today we are happily hopping with Unity’s DT. I can’t wait for you to see what the DT has made using lots of NEW Graciellie Design stamps! They’re beautiful, and I’m surely looking forward to see what YOU do with them.

Here’s a page I made for my thrifted mini address book using Sweet Tea Kitty.

Every day can be a chaotic mess and I NEED coffee just to wade through the simple things. I can’t imagine life without coffee.

To demonstrate some chaos on my little page, I used a black Copic Multi Liner to add a continuous squiggle and underlined the sentiment to give it some emphasis because coffee DOES help.

Here’s a peek at the entire stamp set.

The vintage feel of the kitty in the tea cup is fascinating! I love it.

Unity’s August Blog Hop!

What have you all been up to?! Crafty or otherwise?!
On my side, my school-age children were busy the first part of the month preparing for school, then getting used to school, and NOW . . . we’re all preparing for my hubby’s transition into retirement. We’re so happy to have him at home and see his handsome face, enjoy his jokes and whacky opinions, and just cuddle. He’s worked so very hard for the past 30 years and definitely deserves some down time. I can’t wait to see his transition. More about that next month . . .

Today we are hopping with Unity’s DT. Lots of NEW Phyllis Harris stamps are being released. I can’t wait to see what the DT does with them. I always enjoy Phyllis Harris stamped creations.

Here’s a peek at a couple of tags and a canvas I put together in the past month or so using a NEW ANGIE girl, last month’s kit of the month, SMAK kit, and Layers of Life kit.
I originally posted this up on the Unity Blog just the other day. It’s a chipboard tag using Angie’s NEW Shine Bright Girls set. The set was just released last week and I was so happy to play with it.

As you can see from the photo above, I used the girl on the left only.

Here’s a little peek at the entire glorious set.
Clicking on the set above will take you to the product’s page at Unity Stamp Company.

Here’s another chipboard tag I put together. This time I used an ANGIE girl from last month’s kit of the month.
The little eyeglasses were an afterthought embellishment that I printed and cut from basic cardstock using my Silhouette Cameo. I adhered them with a tiny dab of glue. They really add a bit of dimension and whimsy. I might have to get some cat eye frames the next time I have an eye appointment.

Lastly is a 5-x-7-inch mixed media canvas using July’s Layers of Life kit, SMAK kit, and bits and pieces of some other past Unity kits from the past year.

The reason I’ve got bits and pieces of past kits is because initially I started this little canvas months ago, got distracted, tired, or whatever the case may be, and I was not inspired to finish it until recently.

Unity’s July Blog Hop!

Warm enough for ya? I think we’re all feeling the heat now . . .

It’s JULY, baby! NOT my favorite month.

We’re all hopping along today with some new Unity kits and sales to help you stay COOL in your crafty space and keep you stamping through the heat.

I’m going to share a tag card I made today using a NEW stamp set by Susan Weckesser called Fairy Dust.

Below is a picture of the front of the tag card.

Here’s a picture of the tag card opened. For the sentiment on the inside, I used a sentiment stamp from this month’s Kit of the Month.

I LOVE buttons. Do you? They just add the right touch when you need them. I have a TON (at least).

Here’s a peek at the entire Fair Dust set. It’s so cute!

Here’s another shot of my tag card. You might be able to catch the glimmer on the wings and the word “SPRINKLE”.

Unity’s June Blog Hop!

Happy June!

We’re hopping along today with some new Unity kits and sales to help you celebrate the end of school, start of summer, and anything else we need to celebrate.

I’m going to share a tag I made today and a couple of tags I made last week for the Unity blog.

In the above tag, I used the flower from a new set released today, Prefer to Smile. It’s originally from a previous Kit of the Month, so I used that sized stamp to help make my tag. The sentiment is from this month’s Layers of Life kit and the beautiful background script is from this month’s SMAK. I get inspired by so many different Unity images and sentiments, it’s sometimes difficult for me to just use one kit or stamp set. Do you mix it up, too? I added just a bit of Wink of Stella to the flower and adhered it with some dimensional Zots to give it some dimension and interest.

Here’s a recap of the post I did last week on Unity’s blog--June 2:
Hey! Today is the official last day of school in our school district and me and my kiddos are looking forward to hanging out, eating, and just chilling for the summer. I think that’s what we do best this time of year. You got any plans for summer? Stamping I hope!
Today, I’m going to share a couple of tag cards I made using this month’s SMAK, KOM, and last month’s LOL kits. What’s a tag card? Well, I thought I’d put together some tags that had a portion of it’s design open up like a card to reveal another sentiment on the inside. Sometimes I just like to design new things to stamp on.

Here’s a look at one of them open.

And this is what it looks like from the front closed.

I did this by grouping and welding the tag shape with the shape you see on the front in my Silhouette Cameo’s software to create the tag card.

Here’s another one open.

And here is the same one from the front closed.

And here are both of the tag cards together.

What types of things do you like to stamp on besides tags and cards?  Please share with us. Sometimes we need something new to keep our stamping muse inspired.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, UNITY!

We’re birthday hopping today—woo hoo! This only happens once a year, so lets enjoy all the NEW Unity kits but more importantly, the Unity sales--50% off site wide--What?! Yeah!

I’ve got a couple of projects to share with you today using this month’s Kit of the Month & SMAK Kit and the NEW Sentiment Kit.

First up is an 8-1/2-x-11-inch scrapbook layout I had up on the Unity blog the other day. In recap, it’s memorializing our night out seeing Hamilton (An American Musical) at The Orpheum Theater in San Francisco on April 20th.
After a week of submitting to win the Hamilton Lottery, I won two tickets to see it. GOOD seats, too--orchestra seats--SOOO lucky! I took my younger daughter, Gwen, who is an absolute fan. In fact, earlier in the month, she and her friend, Karlee, won their school’s talent show performing “Your Obedient Servant” from Hamilton. She was beyond thrilled and will remember that night forever.

Now on to explain the layout a bit . . .

The title for the layout is a lyric from one of the songs in the musical. The cameras and sentiment were from this month’s Kit of the Month and were just perfect for this layout. They would be perfect for ANY scrapbook layout.

Here’s a peek at this month’s Kit of the Month.
The little squiggly artistic embellishment behind the Hamilton logo is from this month’s SMAK Kit.
I thought it would be a nice touch to add the musical logo for Hamilton and fussy cut it using my Silhouette Cameo. I added a little zigzag stitch as a vertical embellishment to the cluster of patterned paper borders and adhered the little cameras using pop dots for dimension.

BY THE WAY--If you get a chance to see this musical, DO IT!  Also, if you couldn’t get tickets or just can’t pay those kinds of prices for tickets, play the Hamilton lottery. It’s real. You really can win. It's available to play every day. If you win, the tickets are only $10 (a Hamilton).

Now onto the way I used the NEW Sentiment Kit. Below is a picture of an envelope I made using the focal image with sentiment from the kit.
I thought it would be so fun to make an envelope and card set using Happy Snail Mail! It’s such a fun and amazing kit just for this type of project. Here, take a look at Lisa’s kit! It’s so adorable!
Here’s a couple more images of the card set. I used the “From” & “Deliver To” from the sentiment kit on the envelope along with the sentiment on the inside card.
Wouldn’t you just love to receive a project in the mail using that NEW Sentiment Kit? So fun!

Unity Blog Hop April 2017!

We’re hopping with Unity Stamp Company today—woo-hoo!!

I got a few graduation projects and a canvas I’ve been working on using a couple new stamp sets, the NEW Kit of the Month, and NEW Sentiment Kit from Unity Stamp Company.

Let’s get to the graduation projects I’ve been working on.

I photo-pieced Kelli’s (from Unity Stamp Company) daughter, Kennedy, into the face of one of the new sets by Angie Blom, “Graduation Wishes”, and made the above card. Kennedy recently had her senior portraits done and what PERFECT timing! I’d be so tickled if I were a senior in high school who was graduating and received this from my parents. It’s just so personalized.
Here’s a peek at the inside of the above card using a sentiment from, “You Did Good”.

Look! Kennedy is on a tag, too. This time, I added the flower image and sentiment from the NEW Sentiment Kit. Maybe you could use this tag to hang on a graduation present or as another creative way to convey just how proud you are of your graduate. Hang it from their door knob, place it in the refrigerator, put it in their car, SURPRISE them! This will be the only time in their lives that they will be graduating from high school. Help them enjoy it.

PLANNERS!! I thought it would be a nifty idea to make a reminder divider for a planner. You could just send them out to friends and family. Maybe add more details regarding graduation plans/party, time, date, etc. The recipient could add it to their planners as a creative reminder of your graduate’s BIG day. What do you think?

Here’s a close-up. I also used the little birdie from this month’s Kit of the Month.

Lots of people are using planners these days and what an opportunity to grace their planners with some of your creativity and your graduate’s beaming face. Right? Right!

Here’s a look at all the sets I used on the above projects.
(Clicking on the images will take you to the products’ pages at Unity Stamp Company)

Lastly, here’s a 5-x-7-inch canvas I made using the girly-girl image from this month’s Kit of the Month (see above for the rest of the kit).

I stamped the images onto printed tissue paper, adhered it to the canvas using gel medium, colored the pretty girly-girl using distress paints and distress crayons, and then adhered a double die cut scallop frame to finish the piece. Ultrasimple and ultraloved when completed.

We have TWO amazing Unity filled prize packages to giveaway. Leave a comment on EACH blog in the hop (including the Unity blog) for your chance to win.
